I’m getting a bit bored. Not with A.I. itself but with the relentless noise around it.
One minute it’s “A.I. will take your job.”
Next minute it’s “A.I. is the greatest invention since oxygen.”
“A.I. uses too many natural resources”
Then there’s “A.I. will write your novel, do your taxes (ha I wish I hate doing them), make your breakfast and out-parent you.”
“I can tell if you used A.I. to write your content”
Come on people.

A.I. is not the villain. It’s also not the hero. It’s a tool. A USEFUL one, yes. But a tool.
It’s like any other technology—what matters is how we use it. A hammer can build a house or bash a hole in the wall. That’s not the hammer’s fault.
The same goes for A.I.
It can help small businesses get their admin under control.
It can help neurodivergent people organise their thoughts.
It can also spew out complete nonsense or amplify someone’s worst biases if we’re not paying attention.
And the job thing?
Look, yes—some jobs are changing. They always have. The nature of work is always shifting. A.I. is just speeding that up.
The real issue isn’t whether A.I. replaces us—it’s whether we’re still valued when we don’t use it. Whether we’re expected to churn out more for less. Whether the humans behind the work are still allowed to be… well, human.
What I’d love to see more of is this:
- Thoughtful, honest conversations about what A.I. can really do.
- A bit more humility from the tech peeps selling it like it’s magic.
- And way less fear-mongering or hype designed to make people feel stupid or obsolete.
Because right now? A lot of people are just tired. Tired of feeling behind. Tired of trying to keep up with every new tool.
Here’s the truth as I see it and to be fair you are probably sick or bored of me saying it- A.I. is a tool. Not a miracle. Not a monster.
It’s here to stay, but it’s not here to take your soul.
Use it if it helps.
Ignore it if it doesn’t.
But either way—don’t let the headlines decide how you feel about it.
A balanced approach to A.I. for small and solo business owners is available in our shop– this comes with a consult as well!

If you’re a small business owner, the best thing you can do is actually try it for yourself. Not because some guru told you to. Not because you’re scared of being left behind. Not because you are scared of A.I. itself. The only way to know if A.I. is useful for your business is to experiment. Write a few prompts. Ask it to help with a tricky email or brainstorm content ideas. See if it can shave an hour off a task you hate. You don’t need to master it or use it for everything—just treat it as a volunteer who works for free and doesn’t need coffee breaks. You’ll figure out pretty quickly whether it’s helpful or just hype for your situation. (The Guide above has a worksheet section on how to weigh up the cost versus benefit for your particular business and needs)
For those that like TED Talks this one is a good one on the topic of A.I.
As always
